Date Gal - Love, Sex and Relationships

Date Gal - September 2006

What's the Attraction of the Footballer?

Of course, a BIG weekend of footy grand finals - both Rugby and AFL!!! Go Swannies and Go the Storm!

This week I have been working with a lot of AFL footy players leading up to the Grand Final and as nice as they were (and to look at), I couldn't work out why there were so many women dolling themselves all over the players!

I've dated an AFL player before and tell you the truth they are no different to any other man. They just have a glamourous kind of job - that's it! They have bad habits, they have bad hair days, they can be rude but they also can be very sweet.

When I dated Mr AFL and we would go out, it never ceased to amaze me how many girls would flirt with him or slip him their numbers when clearly they knew I was his girlfriend. Wouldn't stop them though!

Somehow his number got out and he would get phone calls at all hours of the night and at one point he was being stalked.

In the end, our lives were very different and I couldn't compete with the endless number of girls always trying to win his heart - and well eventually it did work with one girl.

My point is - what's the attraction? If they're no different to the bloke next door, why do women constantly try to jump into bed with them? So what - they play sport - it's their job! It doesn't make them any more attractive does it?

Female Success: A Turn Off?

With the recent split of high profile couples like the Hilary Swank/Chad Lowe and Jessica Simpson/ Nick Lachey it makes you think whether the success of the female was a cause of the downfall of the relationship. Did the bloke get jealous because his lover was making more and had more fame?

A good friend of mine Trisha recently started dating a bloke who worked in hospitality. Trisha has always been very ambitious and has worked really hard to obtain her dream job – a Director of a PR firm. In being a Director of course she racks in the big bucks and has everything a gal could ever dream of – a nice car, her own apartment, designer clothes and shoes, etc. The one thing though she can’t manage to obtain is a boyfriend.

When she met Mr Hospitality, they hit it off straight away. She never really told him what she did to start with – just said she worked in PR. She found in the past that if she told her date that she was a Director, they would run to the hills!

Mr Hospitality seemed different though – he thought it was great she was so successful and embraced her ambitions. However, recently his tune has changed. Trisha received a pay rise, started to travel a lot more and became quite a woman about town. She was invited to every main event in her city and mingled with high flyers and high profile celebs. As Mr Hospitality was always working at nights, he could never accompany her.

When her photo started being printed in the social pages, he became quite jealous and would argue with Trisha about her new found fame and success. He demanded that she stop going out with her new friends and that she cease her continuous travels. Basically he was asking her to give up everything she had worked so damn hard for.

Do you think Mr. Hospitality lasted long? No way – he was out the door before he could say ‘I’m an ass!’

Trisha had worked so hard all her life and there was no way a jealous man would ruin her life. Clearly he was jealous that she was the main bread winner, that she was successful and that she had high profile friends.

So many women face this problem when they enter relationships. The green eye monster comes out when the woman starts to demonstrate how successful she is. But is this really a crime? Shouldn’t the male embrace this success? Or is it too hard for him to deal with the fact that he is not the bread winner in the relationship?

Is female success a turn off?

Etiquette of the Perve

Everyone loves a good perve! Including chicks - why do you think I just forked out a few too many dollars for dark sunglasses???

It's always nice when we see a bit of eye candy and you're only human for having a look. But when it comes to THE PERVE, there a few things to keep in mind in what we call 'etiquette.'

1) Don't make it really obvious when you're checking someone out. Either wear sunglasses or have a quick glance. Holding a gaze for too long is really sleazy and may make the other person feel repulsed

2) If you're on a date or with your partner and see a bit of eye candy coming your way - don't make it obvious in front of them that you're checking someone else out. Okay so it's all good to look and not touch but when you're on a date, it makes the other person feel like complete crap!

3) When someone is having a perve at you, you spot it and it's not welcomed -don't do any actions that make you out that you are repulsed at their actions. It's a good ego boost and you should feel flattered. Yes sometimes it feels great when a hot chick or bloke checks you out but when you're not attracted to the person don't screw up your nose and say something out loud - they find your attractive, nothing wrong with that!

4) If you don't want to come across as a complete sleazebag - then don't follow through with the perve. Don't wolf whistle, yell out sleazy lines, follow them closely or stand around laughing and pointing with your friends. Completely rude. Have your look, get your kicks and then move on for the day.

5) If you're in a appropriate environment (i.e. a bar) and you spot someone who takes your fancy - then not just look but approach them and say hello. There's nothing worse than soemone just staring at you the whole time and not approach you. If you get eye contact back - that's your best bet that you should maybe say hello!

I love the perve but there are times and places! And remember to make it subtle!

Heck we all love a bit of eye candy!

The PPP Party Explained

Some of you (a majority probably blokes) would be well aware of the PPP Party. It's been a ritual between men for many years now and it's something most women don't understand. It's a time for blokes to bond and it brings together three of their most treasured passions: PIZZA, PORN & PLAYSTATION! (Okay, and you could probably add in a 4th P - PISS in terms of alcohol).

Yes ladies- when the lads get together they feast on pizza, get off on porn and let the inner child out by playing Playstation.

Is honesty really the best policy?

My parents always drilled into me from an early age that honesty is always the best policy and I’d like to think that I’ve always been pretty honest growing up – ok except that time I crashed my Mum’s car and blamed it on a someone crashing a shopping trolley into the side of the car! Ooops - sorry Mum!

I have come across a situation in recent weeks where I must say in some cases honesty is not the best policy.
