Can women have sex like men?
...and so became the headline of one of Miss Carrie Bradshaw's first articles in Sex and the City. Can women have sex like men - random no-strings-attached fun. Of course they can!
I couldn't help but think the other day that if SATC started out as a new program in today's society, would it be as successful as it has been? Sure, the movies have been released recently but to be fair, most of their audience has probably followed the tv show through many, if not all, if their tv series.
Can women have sex like men? Absolutely! I know numerous women who've had more partners who they can count, or who alternate partners on the weekends as they have more than one.
I think this question stems from society's many & varied views on women & what is and is not acceptable behaviour - which has changed substantially over the years - and it is now more socially acceptable to:
a) have sex before marriage
b) have numerous sexual partners and
c) have very enjoyable, random fun with people you will most likely never see again.
Sex is as much a physical desire & need as it is a way of expressing & sharing your love for another person. Of course women can have no-strings-attached fun like men can as we all have the same desires. It has simply become more socially accepted that some women do behave in this way... And who knows, maybe we have SATC to thank for that!
