Chivalry is not lost, hoorah!!
I was asked out the other week by a bartender I've become friendly with (some may say I've been to that bar a few too many times lol!)
I was quite nervous as it had a been a while since I had been on a proper 'date' so I actually had a little shot of Dutch courage before I met up with him. I knew he was at a bar with a mate before we were due to meet up, so he wasn't going to be stone-cold sober either.
I'd been told earlier that we had a couple of options for dinner. As it was, I quite liked the first option, so after our first drink at the bar to kick off the night it was off for Mexican & a tequila bar! We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door by the owner, and the bar staff were great as well (had a few free drinks come our way as well which is always great!). My date was just wonderful - he wouldn't let me pay for a single thing, would help me with my jacket, pulled out my chair for me and even stood up from his chair when I left the table to go to the loo! He was an absolute gentleman & definitely restored my faith in the fact that there ARE decent guys still out there..it just may take a while to find them.
And yes - he even messaged the next day when he said he would!
We had date #2 which wasn't as great at the first (movie & cheap dinner can't really compare with the wining & dining!) so now I'm waiting for him to call again for date #3....let's see if he's true to his word for the third time!!
But if nothing else, and if it doesn't go anywhere, he's shown me that decent guys DO still exist, and has just raised the bar for the rest of them!!
