Date Gal - Love, Sex and Relationships

Date Gal - November 2010

Puzzled

So, following on from my previous post of "Chilvary is not lost" I really am quite puzzled. The man in question never called. Now, on the one hand, I don't care. I'm a big girl and I can handle rejection. No big deal. But there is a little part inside me just screaming why were you so unbelievably lovely on our date and then I never heard from you again?!

Now to be fair - I did hear from him again, but only when I went back into his bar (my friend and I decided it would be more awkward if we never went back, given that was where we always went for a drink, so we headed back there as per usual). He started apologising straight away for not having been in contact, claiming he'd been really busy and had a few issues going on at home (he's from overseas). No biggie, I said, whatever. Then he even gave my friend and I free glasses of champagne. Ok....getting back in the good books a little here haha!! On the way out there was a kiss on the cheek and an "I'll call you this week".

So a week passes, and we head back to the bar again where we'd arranged to meet some other friends, so there was quite a group of us. We walked in, I went up to the bar to get a drink and Mr Barman completely ignored me from the other side. Eventually he came around, gave me another kiss on the cheek and apologised again for not being in touch. Said he'd been busy (as had I), said he'd been sick (as I had - I'd been in bed for 3 days that week!) and then said he was thinking of going back to the US in the next 6 months. Umm..ok. Is that you're way of saying you don't want to see me again and that I should never expect your call?

Why is it when guys don't want to see you again, they have to be complete jerks about it? Why can't they just confess that, hey, 'they don't feel a connection' or, 'I don't think this will work' or.....something! Don't they realise that making up excuses and continuously apologising or promising to call when we know they aren't actually going to call, just makes them look even more like an idiot? And we're not talking about a young teen either, this is a 30-year old man!!!

Maybe chivalry is lost after all. Maybe it's just the wining and dining when they want something that is still very much alive and well!!
