"If you're not ready to have a baby..."
"...you shouldn't be having sex."
What an interesting response my friend was given when she told another friend of her's that, should she become pregnant at this stage of her life, she'd "deal with it".
When she first told me, I was quite shocked. What an outdated and old-fashioned response! But then I thought about it, and now I see her friend's point.
On the one hand, "if you're not ready to have a baby, you shouldn't be having sex" can be seen as an extremely outdated comment, given the prevalence of sex in today's society and how generally accepted it has become in certain circles and circumstances.
On the other hand, if you're going to engage in certain activities you need to be prepared to deal with the conequences and therefore, if you're not ready to have a baby, maybe you shouldn't be having sex.
But..that being said, there are different ways of "dealing" with becoming pregnant, so I guess, as usual, it comes down to your personal choices and beliefs.
Interesting comment though.
