The Male Hang Out: The Toilet?
From an early age, it fascinated me why my Dad would be the first to get up, grab the paper and escape to the toilet. I always wondered what on earth he would do in their for a good 15 – 20 mins, even if it was to read the paper. Couldn’t he read it at the dining table or in the comfort of his recliner?
Now, I’ve tried the whole reading the paper in the bathroom thing but after I’ve done my business, I get bored and there’s nothing worse than sitting on a cold toilet seat (or if you’re like my Dad, you of course get a heated toilet seat! Men!)
But after the many times I stayed over at my ex boyfriend’s house, I worked out why men have these ‘solemn times’ – to get away from us gals! Think about it – it’s not like you’re going to barge in and sit down and start gossiping about your day when he’s sitting on the toilet.
Still beats me though that if blokes want alone time to get away from us, why they still feel the need to retreat the toilet where, let’s be honest, they’re sitting in their own filth?
A new trend that is emerging amongst men and their ‘alone time’ is that men are now spending their lunchtimes at the local car wash. Now, I’m not talking about the car washes where you do it yourself. I’m talking these super dooper ones where you kick back and enjoy a coffee and a slice of cake while the manual car washers get cracking on your car.
The last couple of weeks I have been walking pass by local carwash café and it is just full of men reading their newspapers and dirty magazines while their cars are being washed. There is not one single woman in sight which leads me to think have men found a new domain to get away from the women in their world?
As I delved further into this new phenomenon, I discovered a number of reasons why blokes had taken to ‘quiet time’ at the car wash.
One car washer actually retreated to the car wash everyday on his lunch break so he could get away from the ‘bitchiness’ in the workplace from the females. And plus, his baby was his car and he got his jollys making it all sparkling new each day.
Another admitted he went their because the local girls that walked pass the car wash were easy on the eye – let’s just hope his wife understands! LOL!
A few other lads suggested it was a great chance to show off their cars to each other – of course we know that guys just love out doing each other.
Or truth be known, it was another chance for blokes to bond in which they could hang out with the other lads, talk about their cars and anything else that popped up.
RIDDLE ME THIS: ARE TOILETS AND CAR WASH CAFES REALLY WHERE MEN LIKE TO GET AWAY FROM THEIR WOMEN? AND CHICKS, IF THE BLOKES HAVE THER SAFE HAVEN, WHAT IS OURS?
