Memoirs of a Virgin Speed Dater
I am a keen speed dater and often encourage my friends to come along in the hope not to find the man of their dreams but instead meet new friends.
However, some of my friends I think would rather wish I keep my speed dating practices to myself - just as Louise one of my friends decided last Saturday night when I introduced her to the world of Speed Dating!
'Considering myself a girl with ample get up and go, I recently found myself trailing after my girlfriend on our way to a speed dating ‘session’.
‘I have free passes – you must come’ she said, ‘ok’ I replied. So, it’s not like she had to twist my arm. However, when we got there and I started to feel a little apprehensive about talking to ten complete strangers one on one for seven minutes, I must say I got a little crabby and started to place blame.
False words such as ‘I hate you’ and ‘you made me do this’ were uttered under my breath between courage inducing gulps of red wine.
Well, it was too bad I was going to have to go through with it, because it would have been incredibly rude to walk out after seeing the potential ‘man of my dreams’. So I took a deep breathe, my position on the couch, another sip of wine, put a smile on my face and enjoyed meeting all these new people.
And that’s the trick, go with a good attitude and you will have a great time. Don’t go thinking you will meet the man of your dreams because with that in mind, you probably won’t.'
